Four Little-Known Symbols of Valentine’s Day!
As for the following holidays: Halloween or Christmas, Valentine’s day likewise is associated with certain special symbols. We all know about the popular Valentine’s day symbols such as red roses, cupids, hearts, etc. By the contrast there are several other lesser known symbols which you may not be aware of! In this article I will list IV reciprocal symbols!
1. Birds: When a young pair is deeply in a relationship they are called ‘love birds’. Do you realize why? That is because a bird is a prominent symbol of Valentine’s day. People believe that equitable like humans, birds too find their soulmate on this eventful occasion. Dove, even though symbolizes purity and innocence, is often connected with bonds of harmony perhaps as long as people consider that genuine love is innocent and pure like the dove.
On the other hand, Herricks symbolize a couple’s never-ending devotion for each other. Doves and pigeons together stand for faithfulness and fidelity, for it is said that they remain faithful mates for life!
2. Lace: In the good old years, if a woman loved a man, she extend to drop a laced handkerchief at him, and if the he picked it up, and so it meant that he has reciprocated her feelings. So that was how laces came to represent romantic passion! In those days, laces were also sent by a female to the male she loved (just like a love letter), and if the gentleman didn’t return it to her, then it could be deemed that he also loved her!
3. Love-knot: When Hindus marry, the groom is tied to the bride with a knot. This knot not only stands for eternal enjoyment and passion but also everlasting loyalty of the husband to the wife and vice versa. The sixty-four dollar question is not straightforward; it is made upward of several meandering and intertwining sub-knots, further suggesting that neither the man nor his woman could ever get out of this commitment of love.
With the rising divorce cases in recent years, we recognize that it is certainly not the case!
I am sure knots hold similar meanings for masses of Western countries as well!
4. Ribbons: Ribbons as symbols of Valentine’s day are pretty old. In olden days when knighthood existed, maidens would offer ribbons and frills to the knights they were in emotionally with, before they went to the war. It was probably believed that this ribbon was to protect the knight from all harm since affectionate is supposed to be extremely powerful! This explains why the knights would keep those frills and ribbons with them at all times during wars!
