Three Romantic Classics Tunes for Your Valentine Day Sweetheart

Please let me share with you this article lists only three favorite songs for Valentine’s day. There are many passion songs out there which are not covered in this list. I put together this shortlist based on the top listing of songs to listen on Valentine’s day. Enjoy!

1. Title: Someone to Watch Over Me

Composed By: George and Ira Gershwin

Publish In: 1926

One of the oldest romantic songs popular among lovers even today, it was originally supposed to be rendered in a fast-paced manner. Later it was converted into its present ballad form, for it was thought that the narrative poem form suited the lyrics better.

This song is so popular that it is rendered every year, and it has the unique distinction of being release by nearly all the top singers of all times, including Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Queen Latifah, Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Sting, etc., to title just a few. Your Valentine’s day would be incomplete without this song!

2. Title: Unchained Melody

Composed By: Alex North and Hy Zaret

Publish In: 1936

This is yet another must-have song for Valentine’s Day. Zaret is the pen name of William Stirrat, who made up this song at the tender age of 16, was experiencing of affective and emotional states of being in love. Actually, William was too shy to approach any girl, and this song was written at a time when he really had a feeling of longing and prolonged unfulfilled desire for romanticist love with the girl of his dreams.

The arrangement for this musical was given by Alex North who is more famous for his composing scores in movies such as “Cleopatra” and “Spartacus”. It first appeared in 1936 in “Unchained” and was nominated for the Best Song Oscar Award!

This vocal is considered to be one of the notable and most beautifully told tales of romantic love.

Throughout the years, it has been rendered by many distinguish artists, of whom special mention maybe made of Elvis Presley, the Righteous Brothers and Jimmy Young!

1. Title: In Your Eyes

Composed By: Peter Gabriel

Publish In: 1986

This is evidently a more recent song but every bit great as the two older classics. In fact some people claim that it is the top romantic song ever recorded! It uses unusual lyrics and choirs to express the strong passion of love; it even touches on the theme of spiritual and metaphysical love. It is a song from Peter’s album “So”. It is said that Cameron Crowe, director of the movie “Say Anything”, paid almost two hundred dollars to get this song to be added to one of the scenes of this film!
